Welcome to Our New Operations Manager

We are pleased to officially welcome Steve Watkins to Wallsend Village as our new Operations Manager.

Steve joins the team with a strong focus on maintaining a safe, well-presented and customer-focused environment for our retailers, customers and community. As he settles into the role and becomes familiar with the centre, we look forward to introducing him to retailers and working together to support the ongoing success of Wallsend Village.

In the meantime, please continue to direct any operational enquiries to Jenna Samuel, Centre Manager, who will be happy to assist.

Waste Disposal

Retailers are reminded that all waste must be disposed of correctly using the designated waste streams and bins provided throughout the centre. Proper waste separation helps reduce contamination, supports recycling initiatives and ensures valuable food waste can be diverted from landfill and turned into compost, soil improvers and renewable energy.

Food organics must be placed in the burgundy-lidded food organics bins. Acceptable items include fruit and vegetable scraps, bread, pasta, rice, coffee grounds, egg shells, dairy products and leftover cooked food. Items such as plastic bags, cling wrap, tea bags, coffee pods, food packaging, metal, glass, recyclables and takeaway containers must not be placed in organics bins, as contamination may result in the entire load being sent to landfill.

Retailers are also reminded that all food waste must be removed from packaging and containers before disposal and that only approved compostable liners should be used where applicable.

In addition, waste must not be left in trolleys, on the floor or within service areas. Retailers are not permitted to use shopping trolleys or stock trolleys belonging to other retailers for waste disposal, stock movement or any other purpose.
