The story behind the counter

A career built on practical skill and looking after people

John’s Mister Minit story began in 1995, when John joined the business as a casual. Within three months John had become a manager, regularly placing among the company’s top 10 performers in Australia.

In 2001, John became a franchisee in Coffs Harbour. After stepping away in 2011 to work in car sales and security, John returned to Mister Minit in 2021 and became a franchisee again in 2022.

Across 25 years with the business, John’s approach has stayed refreshingly simple: do skilled work, solve real problems and look after people.

What keeps John coming back

It always comes back to helping people

For John, the most rewarding part of the work is finding a practical answer to a customer’s problem. Whether it is repairing a favourite pair of shoes, cutting a spare key or helping with a watch, each job is a chance to make everyday life a little easier.

That same willingness to help extends beyond the counter. As a Justice of the Peace, John also supports members of the local community in another practical and trusted way.

Life outside the shop

231 jumps and a view from above

Long before helping customers with shoe repairs and key cutting, John was spending weekends thousands of feet above the ground. A former skydiver with 231 jumps to his name, John also achieved multiple skydiving certifications and ratings throughout the sport.

It’s another example of the dedication and focus that continues to influence John’s approach to work today.

A keen motorcyclist with a love of the open road
